Macri Roofing Raises Hartford's First Green Roof

Hartford residents can now breathe a little easier thanks to the combined efforts of Common Ground and Mac The state-of-the-art mixed income/mixed use building, located at 410 Asylum Street and overlooking the Capitol, is soon to be Hartford’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified sustainably designed building, incorporating energy-efficient design, construction, operation, and maintenance practices. Key green design features include a high performance condensing boiler; drought-resistant landscaping; “Smart” heating and cooling systems; water-saving fixtures; and high efficiency lighting. We used our crane to lift 5 truckloads of plants (45 pallets) to cover over 4,000 square feet of roof with sustainable ornamental and edible plants. Designed by Weston Solutions, the roof will help reduce the buildings’s air-conditioning needs, overall energy consumption and costs w The project was sponsored in part by the City of Hartford, the State of Connecticut, and the National Equity Fund. ri Roofing, Inc.
