Is Solar Electricity Right For You?

Turning to solar electricity is a great choice if:

  • Your property has access to direct sunlight
  • Your current electricity costs are high
  • Your state and federal governments are currently supporting solar electricity with grants and other incentives

But, the best way to find out for sure is to contact us and ask!

Why Renewable Energy?

While no one can dispute that solar energy has positive environmental effects, renewable energy also offers many property owners financial benefits. Solar saves you money on your energy bills, increases the value of your property, and takes away from your dependence on traditional energy sources.

Why Do Licensed Roofing Professionals Make the Best Solar Installers?

Many people don't realize that when any work is done on roof system warranted by the manufacturer, a roofer certified with that manufacturer must be present to to oversee the work done on that roof. Failure to have a certified roofer present could not only cause a leak because of improper sealing of penetrations made through the roof, it will also void the roof warranty.

Macri Roofing, Inc. is certified with all major roofing manufacturers and will ensure that the solar array is installed correctly; protecting warranties and providing customers with their own, personal power source.

How Does Photovoltaics Work?

Step 1: The Sun

The sun produces a vast amount of energy through nuclear fusion. The energy travels over 150 million kilometers (93 million miles) to our planet. Every minute, enough of the sun's energy reaches the Earth's surface to meet the world's energy demands for an entire year.

Step 2: Solar Modules

Solar modules are comprised of a number of solar cells. Light (photons) is absorbed by the semiconductors in the solar cells and converted into electical energy (electrons). This process generates direct current (DC) electricity which is routed to an inverter.

Step 3: Inverter

The inverter converts the electricity generated by the solar modules into alternating current (AC). Alternating current is the form of electricity used in consumer appliances, lighting, and heating and cooling systems.

Step 4: Meters & Monitoring

Energy meters are employed to carefully measure the amount of electrical energy produced by the array and monitor the performance of the system. In many cases the monitoring system will also track building demand (load), weather and wind data.

Step 5: Utility Lines (Grid-Tied and Bimodal Systems ONLY)

When electricity is generated which is not used directly by the local facility, the energy automatically feeds into the utility grid where it can be used by other customers. The system owner will be paid for the energy production when it exceeds their usage demand.
